My Book
Building Enduring Wealth for Retirement
A guide for achieving financial independence and for creating a faith-based financial plan
Book Synopsis
Most people spend more time planning for their yearly vacation than planning for retirement. After 20-plus years working as a financial planner helping clients save for retirement, get to retirement, and stay retired, I’ve learned that effective retirement planning follows a pattern – a mindset. I’m calling it the WealthBuilder Mindset. Those who embrace the WealthBuilder Mindset are often able to achieve their retirement goals. Those who approach retirement planning as a second thought tend to find themselves struggling in retirement and having to make major lifestyle compromises that were never intended.
Each chapter of the book addresses one component of the WealthBuilder Mindset as it relates to retirement planning. The goal is to help readers create a systematic and repeatable process so that they retire “to something” as opposed to retiring “from something.” Each chapter introduces tools for readers to open their eyes to financial blind spots related to retirement living.
Throughout the book, I will also reference wisdom taught by the greatest financial planner of all time. His name is Jesus Christ. To the extent that I can, I ask Him for advice on all my plans. He has never failed me. He’s the one who gives me true wisdom, patience, and guidance in my personal life and professional career. In that spirit, I will illustrate to the reader that WealthBuilder Mindset gets a major boost should you allow The Wonderful Counselor to participate in your planning and decision-making.
This is not a religious book. It is a “how-to” book. My prayer is that the words of scripture mentioned herein will be supportive of the WealthBuilder Mindset and that the references will give you inspiration and foundational guidance for your journey. As it is written: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV).
